Strawberry Curls

Really cutesy curls! This was taken with my phone (front camera sucks, and I can’t take a decent picture with my back camera at all!) before I headed off to school for my Health Care midterm. (If I fail, well I might as well fail with style.) Kidding aside, I honestly did not feel like studying for the test, I ended up browsing through the powerpoint presentations the night before, it helped a little - thank goodness!

The curls come out really tight at first, nothing a little brushing won’t fix. I only put in light hairspray because my hair does not hold curls well, and hairspray weighs the curls down. Trust me, the results are DISASTROUS if too much hairspray is applied, my hair still straightens out and I’m left with a sticky mess - yuck.

I really love the beachy waves I get after the curls straighten out a little. ;)

My family spent the Sinulog weekend away from all the brouhaha. Since we’re a big family with little kids, my parents don’t like going to see the actual parade - it’s such a hassle. So we spent it in the wonderful Shangri-La Resort. One of my favorite places! Too bad though, the dinner that came with the rooms were only valid on weekdays. We enjoyed the stay nonetheless.

I absolutely couldn’t resist bringing my new favorite bag with me! You could only imagine the look on my face when I saw the FedEx package! It’s a lot smaller than I expected, but just enough to fit in my essentials (wallet, kikay kit, Starbucks planner, and shades). I just find the buckle straps annoying - they don’t make for easy opening and closing. My friends now call me “the girl with the green bag” (Confessions of a Shopaholic, anyone?)

And as you can see, my hair is all wavy. Well, remember those strawberry foam curlers I bought a while back? Well, this is the result they yield after four hours (or something like that). More on that in my next post ;)

OKAY. 2 reasons why this look doesn’t go to lookbook:

1. The DSLR ran out of juice, had to use my phone, the quality of the camera on my phone isn’t terrible, but the lighting is and the flash does not help. At all.

2. It rained on me, hence the wet hair and (if you look closely) the wet shoes.

BUT i just had to blog about this because I am sooo happy that my satchel (♥♥♥) finally arrived! It actually arrived a day after my birthday! Way to go Daddy’s birthday gift!♥

So, I wore this outfit to church and to my friend’s (and neighbor’s) house for dinner. AND this photo was taken at 11 in the evening, so I had no other choice but to settle for indoor lighting in my sister’s messy room :/

OMG! My dad is running 42k tomorrow for the Cebu City Marathon! Wish him luck people! He ran last year, coincidentally the marathon fell on the same date my debut was held, don’t even get us started on the father daughter dance! His legs were jelly, my feet were squished.

I cannot even begin to emphasize how blessed my 2011 was. It was a HUGE year for me. If anyone asked me at the start of 2011 what I think my year would end like, I would never have thought this is how it would be. I might not have made it into the Dean’s list, or top of my class, or on one of the most hyped on Lookbook, but this year has been huge nonetheless.

And the some of the people who made it HUGE are in the first picture :) God put them in my life for a reason. It’s been the happiest year so far - with my new group of friends (an equally HUGE group), and with Mike. It’s been our happiest year as well. ♥

Merry Christmas everyone! Notice anything new? :)) *points at hair* YEP!

So, the dude in the pic is my Mike :) He’s spending Christmas in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro (yeah, right after the Sendong disaster.) A large chunk of his family lives there — thankfully, they’re all in tip top shape!

So the reason for the title is that tomorrow, Dec. 22, is our third anniversary. YES, that long. :)) teeheee :)

DIY shirt, ForMe jeans, SM Department Store shoes and belt, gift from an aunt bag, Forever21 crystal necklace.

The shirt was actually a dress gathering dust in my closet (the same top in this post ) , so I took to meet Mr. Scissors! I love cutting up old clothes and changing them up a bit. It sure saves a lot of money (which I’m running low on thanks to Christmas season!) especially since I haven’t finished my Christmas shopping yet. URGH.

AND that feather necklace was actually a give-away from my friend’s 18th birthday! I was so happy because I was seriously contemplating making my own. That sure saved me a lot of trouble! Those shoes actually belong to my sister, and since these babies actually fit me (she has feet 2 sizes bigger than mine) I just had to steal them *insert evil laugh here*

Also, I had just bought these freakishly adorable strawberry foam curlers. (More on them next time.) And my hair was actually looking pretty good, until an hour later when it started to straighten out, despite the amount of mousse and hairspray I had on. It didn’t look so bad though, it just looked like I had megawaves in my hair.

My boyfriend got me shades for Christmas. Teehee. I’ve been meaning to get myself new shades because I just can’t seem to find any of my old ones. Gosh. These are adorable. I didn’t think I’d like the purple tint, but they actually do a really good job of not giving me a headache when I’m driving. (yes, I finally drive now!)

WEE. Another deconstructed shirt :) This time I cut up the sleeves of a thrifted boyfriend polo, and had my favorite “sastre” (seamstress) take it in a little so that it fits me just right! These DIY (in this case DIY-ish) things excite me, they really do! Also made a bow tie out of an old neck tie of mine :) I love making things, last week I made more feather earrings for my friends and cousins :) Planning more DIYs -I just need more free time to make them.

Went with my mom to an awarding ceremony today. She was awarded Best School Administrator 2011 by the Business Achievement and Recognition Awards. It’s been the second year in a row that she was awarded by BARA :) So proud of you, Mama!! :*

Dressed up and did my make up like I’d be the one accepting the award. What can I say? I just LOVE dressing up! :)

As for the blog title, my baby sis recently learned a new word and she keeps using it. She even knows when to use it! She turned 2 just the other day and she talks like a 3 or 4-year-old! So adorable! She pronounces it as “pyamees” :)) In context: Na-na, imi namnam pyamees! (Hannah, give me food, promise?) <3

Intramurals are finally here! I’m sure everyone’s been anxious for this week ever since classes started. (I know I’ve been!)

Since the MedTech team color for this year is YELLOW, i decided to find a new pair of shades that had a slightly yellow tint to it. I wasn’t planning on getting anything branded - allowance does not permit my brand-consciousness to take control. :(

So I found these:

KNOCK-OFFS, I know! But hey, they look pretty good, and they’re gonna help shield my face from the sun - it’s not all bad. :)

DIY fringe top (old Penshoppe top), vintage Benetton belt, WAGW skirt

DIY feather earrings!

TWO DIYs this morning! I feel very productive today :) I’ve been wanting to make my own fringe top since I saw them on display in Topshop. I just HAD to have it.

And the feather earrings, I’ve been wanting my own pair for the longest time. I was ecstatic when I saw feathers in the scrapbooking section of National Bookstore - they even had the wire loop things all ready :)

So I’m planning to get my hair dyed soon, and I really, really want the shade in the earring picture above. That’s the color of my hair as the sun hits it, I hope the people at the salon can replicate it :)

I seriously have to put more effort into losing all this extra weight! I’ve been gaining weight ever since the start of this semester. Blaming it on stress and constantly having Mikee around to stuff food in my face. :| OH WELL.

POOR INDOOR LIGHTING plus I wasn’t able to adjust camera settings. :(

The party (for all at the “teens table”) was pretty awkward. Even if we were all cousins, we barely see each other - have our parents seat us all in one table, and we basically sat there texting, occasionally looking at each other and laughing awkwardly. It wasn’t so bad though :)

Going to the beach tomorrow! Hoping and praying it won’t rain. Maybe I’ll even catch some sun and get rid of all this paleness. Hmm, who knows. :)
